A new article on the H1N1 child deaths has
rearranged both the standard level of deaths from a standard flu season (40-150) and the flu deaths from this season, previously
at 129, now estimated at 300-800.
First, I have no idea how they came up with the
new numbers. Any scientific analysis of information doesn’t come up with
round numbers, so we have to trust the experts on this one. These are the same
experts who have been in charge of the vaccination debacle.
Second, I am not flummoxed about why we’re
seeing an increased number of deaths in children. This swine flu variation gives
gastrointestinal symptoms far more than a regular flu. A child with diarrhea
who is then exposed to a high dose of secondary bacteria will be more susceptible to getting that bacterial infection and,
in a very few cases, dying of it.
A common sense solution to this situation
might be to maintain a constant flow of good bacteria into the children with the flu.
Probiotic capsules (taken out and sprinkled on food), yogurts, kefirs, organic apple cider vinegar (a tough sell),
and other naturally fermented products should compete with any disease causing bacteria.
We have good studies showing a slowing of diarrhea as a result of probiotics even in situations where antibiotics are
being used.
We should also remember that most of our household
spices are antibacterial or bacteriostatic (stopping the growth of bacteria). Many
of them also slow the growth of viruses as well.
I share the grief of those who have lost children. I hope what I have written above will help even one child.
My own youngest child is recovering from flu symptoms,
and I have spent wakeful nights praying for him and caring for him. The rest
of the family was spared any symptoms, possibly because we all stink of garlic and have been getting more sleep than normal. At his school those children who received the swine flu vaccination have gotten as
ill as those who have not.
While I am sure my critics will mock me, I
must say that homeopathic remedies have helped my child tremendously through this year’s flu. I used quite a number, but nux vomica and ferrum phos are officially useful for this year’s flu. I used mephitis, mercurius, and rumex to block coughing with some effect. The standard aconite, hepar, and drosera for croupy cough didn’t seem to help. Belladonna helped with fever, and lycopodium helped with overall grumpiness (I don’t know if this
was due to upset stomach or illness). We had improvement within two days, but
then allowed him to overextend himself and have been through several lesser relapses.
